North Belfast’s week long Irish-language event, The McCracken Summer School, is going from strength to strength with last year’s festival the largest ever with over 3,000 people attending various events and activities. July’s programme 2010, one of the highlights of the Gaelic year features numerous events including Irish-language classes, drama, dance, live music, tin-whistle and art workshops as well as a multicultural day and food fayre. Organised by the McCracken Cultural Society which is based at 156 Antrim Rd, classes and events will take place at Teach Mhic Reachtain and the 174 Trust in north Belfast.
The Summer School Festival is fastly becoming an integral part of the Belfast cultural calender, catering for all age groups through the medium of Irish and once again this year, nightly traditional music sessions will take place in Madden’s Bar, Belfast. Celebrating its 11th year, the Summer School will close with a grand finale at the Europa Hotel in Belfast city centre on Sat 31st July 2010.
